Taking Seltzer by Storm
Cape May Brewing Co. doesn’t know how to go halfway. If they’re going to make something, they’re going to make it right. So as the hard seltzer craze ramped up, CMBC decided to step in and do what they do best – make good stuff. They have a massive following with solidified brand recognition due to their several dozen beer releases every year, so the package design for their hard seltzer needed to feel connected to that brand identity – without looking like another beer. So, we utilized the whites and silvers synonymous with the hard seltzer category and combined them with the nautical imagery central to Cape May’s beer packaging system. SKU differentiation is simple and brand-focused, with color and iconography changing to denote flavor while the rest of the label remains largely unchanged. This lets the brand recognition kick in while the flavor – the star of the show – remains front and center.
