In 2022, Canales & Co. Interiors took on its largest project yet: designing the public clubhouse for a new luxury apartment community overlooking McKinney Falls State Park. We explored the rich history of the land, once owned by Terry Boothe and home to his grandfather's dairy farm along the historic Camino Real trail.
Through stakeholder interviews and on-site visits, we uncovered stories that shaped the design vision: a 52 pound catfish pulled from Onion Creek, a marriage proposal on the limestone bluff, and land deeds measured in varas, Spanish units set by iron chains when Texas was still part of Mexico. That final detail inspired the community name, Cadena, meaning "chain" in Spanish. Like those linked measurements, our design ties past to present, nature to luxury, and community to place.
Our team was tasked with bringing cohesion to this apartment clubhouse—yes, apartment clubhouse—through thoughtful interiors and branding. We loved layering in details that reflect both personality and polish, partnering with vendors from 1stDibs, Kyle Bunting, and Roundtop along the way.

The Sapparo sofa with its tailored stitching and the De Sede leather armchairs add charm and warmth to this new build. We elevated the space with rich textures, from ceramic chain wall art to a sculptural mushroom lamp, and a large-scale canvas anchoring the walls with bold simplicity.
