The frozen food aisle is full of options with limited opportunity for brands to make an impression. Argentine brand, Cocina 54, recognized this challenge and asked Canales & Co. to establish a packaging presence for their empanadas that expressed their cultural roots and helped them stand out as unique and memorable.
Expressing the brand's authenticity came in the form of an art unique to Argentina, "Filete Porteño". This art is widely seen in Buenos Aires. It would help differentiate these empanadas as a savory Argentine meal, rather than the Mexican desert style of empanada familiar to South Texans. We studied the stylistic features of this art and learned to paint it ourselves and use it as a strong visual theme for the brand.
When you are a start-up and can't afford advertising, the most powerful billboard you have is your packaging on the shelf.
