The Travis County Parks Foundation acts as a community resource to promote awareness, conservation, and engagement of the beautiful parks in Travis County. Canales & Co. was tapped to build a brand that would be recognized and spotlight the beauty of our local parks.
An identity fit for the parks.
The Travis County Parks Foundation is all about park people. The goal of the identity was to represent the parks in a beautiful way that would honor the parks, and feel right at home with those who love the parks. The foundation is made of park people, working to to maintain and protect the experiences that mean the world to other park people, and that commonality is manifested in in this identity.
Being an Austin based studio, this foundation and its cause are quite literally close to home.
Canales & Co. always jumps at the opportunity to take on local projects, especially when it comes with a good cause for the community like this. The project was an awesome opportunity to represent both the parks and the community visually through the brand marks and some beautiful illustrations.
The brand system lends itself well to all kinds of touchpoint applications, from print materials to apparel and beyond. The iconic mark holds its own on simple brand-forward applications, and the illustration system allows for some really stunning executions beyond just the logo.
Extending the brand
A foundation like this naturally lends itself to breaking out into many sub-brand opportunities, such as individual parks and community events. Pictured here is the primary logo for the inaugural “For the Love of Parks” event, hosted at Richard Moya Park in 2023. We leveraged the TCPF logo, as well as the existing illustration and typographic systems, to create an event logo that feels on-brand but iconic enough to stand alone.
